Today I had the pleasure of seeing the remake of the popular television series of the 60s, "Get Smart". I had heard so many bad reviews of the film, and while I agree with some, I don't exactly agree that it is a terrible movie. It is entertaining, has good laughs that families will enjoy, and the plot is not stretched too thin. However, I am not here to review a movie.
Why do people drag along mentally handicapped people to the movie theater? I don't know if this occurs frequently, but in the local theater I visit, this happens often. I can understand that sometimes it would be a treat to bring them to the movies, I understand this. But it's the individuals who I hear behind me, making unclear noises and screaming for no reason in particular, that I really get in a tiff about. I know they probably have no idea what is going on in the screen in front of them. I think its an easy excuse for the caretakers to see the movie when they should be working. It bothers me that normal spectators have to deal with this.
And while we are on the subject of bringing people along, there is also the subject of little children who come along to PG-13 or higher rated movies. I can understand them wanting to see movies like "Harry Potter" because, after all, young kids get much joy out of the books. I once went to the movies, even though now I completely forget what I was seeing, but I remember two little kids behind me incessantly walking around and tugging on my shirt, and screaming at parts that weren't scary. The ratings are there for a reason and when adults bring along their kids to movies that they aren't supposed to be seeing, they aren't seeing the movie for the children's benefits.
Another thing that bothers me about seeing movies is the previews. I am not talking about the trailers for movies that are coming up, because those, I am quite interested in seeing. But, its the commercials for cars, body spray, cell phones, shoes, television shows, and companies that really bother me. Number one, if I wanted to see this stuff, I would turn on my television, where I am actually forced to watch them. But I don't want to do that in a theater. I don't care about the newest SUV or phone. I have my own phone. Obviously I had a ride to get to the theater. I don't care about some stupid new car. You know, why hasn't anyone said anything before? Do you know one person who likes watching commercials when seeing a movie? I don't.

One of the many annoying people in the movie theater^

If you love Steve Carell as much as I do, see this movie.^
